Dr Boris Lowe

Boris Lowe is a specialist cardiologist at the Green Lane Cardiovascular Service (Auckland City Hospital) and consults part-time at The Heart Group. Dr Lowe’s expertise is using state-of-the-art medical imaging to give his patients with cardiomyopathies, heart valve, coronary artery, aortic, and congenital heart diseases a high standard of care.

Before his appointment to Auckland City Hospital in 2007, Boris was the Chief Fellow in Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging at Cleveland Clinic (Ohio, USA) where he achieved the highest level of certification in the areas of echocardiography, CT and MRI. Boris graduated MBChB from the University of Auckland (1995) and completed his cardiology specialist training at Green Lane Hospital. At McGill University Health Centre (Montreal, Canada) he was one of the first cardiologists to complete an Advanced Clinical and Research Fellowship in adult congenital heart disease.

Boris has been the recipient of Overseas Training Fellowships awarded by the Heart Foundation of NZ and the A.H. Couch Trust. He has published original research in medical journals and co-authored chapters in reference cardiology textbooks. Boris has been the longest-serving Director of Physician Education and Training (Royal Australasian College of Physicians, 2010-2019) at Auckland City Hospital.
