Dr Mariana Lamacié

Mariana Lamacié graduated from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil and subsequently obtained a Master of Science in Cardiovascular Physiology in collaboration with the University of Graz, Austria. Her research led to a patent publication on transplant-related tissue and organ preservation solutions. After her Cardiology training, Mariana specialized in cardiovascular computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in Sao Paulo, Brazil. In 2015, she moved to Canada and worked as a research fellow in cardiac MRI and as a clinical fellow in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplantation at the University of Toronto, where she also served as chief fellow. In 2018, Mariana joined the Division of Cardiology at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute as an Assistant Professor, where she worked as an advanced heart failure-transplant and imaging cardiologist and established and directed a dedicated cardiac neuromuscular program.

Mariana has co-authored chapters in reference cardiology textbooks and published peer-reviewed articles in various medical journals.

Mariana is currently a full-time imaging cardiologist at Middlemore Hospital and consults at The Heart Group. She has a special interest in cardiomyopathies, including genetic and neuromuscular conditions, heart failure, cardiovascular CT, and cardiac MRI. She also speaks Portuguese.
