Cardiac Event Monitoring

Cardiac event monitoring enables us to capture an ECG tracing at the time of symptoms for palpitations, dizziness or collapse so that we can identify the cause and organise appropriate treatment. The monitor can be worn from 7 to 14 days and will record events both immediately prior and after the patient presses the event button. It can store several events in its memory which are then downloaded at The Heart Group when the monitor is returned.

Our nurse will put 3 ECG stickers on your chest and attach the monitor by leads to them. The monitor is small and can be comfortably worn under loose clothing. It can be removed for showering. It is important to fill out a diary recording any events and the associated symptoms.

After the monitor is returned it will be analysed by our Cardiac Physiologist who will forward the information to your Cardiologist. Your Cardiologist will inform you and your doctor about the results and any advice for future management.

The cost of Event monitoring is covered by most insurance policies. Our secretaries will tell you if there is any charge to you at the time of booking.

Event monitors are available at our rooms in:
